"It was a bit of fate, I think, that AtMP was the only result of
my online search for a nearby internship when I graduated from college;
the organization turned out to be one with which I really connected. At
that time, as a twenty-something woman, I was beginning to feel
pressure from friends and exes getting married along with internal fear
about finding my “happily ever after.” And I hated it. So I was
thrilled to discover AtMP, an organization that, by standing up for
unmarried people, works to end legal discrimination on the basis of
marital status and combat cultural stereotypes of single/unmarried
people. I served as an intern until I joined the Board of Directors in
2003. Since then, I have had the honor of serving as the website
administrator, giving press interviews, and participating in various
projects to further AtMP’s mission. I am so proud to be a part of an
organization doing such important work, especially at a time when our
social freedoms are under constant attack. AtMP is increasingly
important as a voice of reason when it comes to issues like same-sex
marriage, cohabitation, and marriage promotion."
