Staff

Jess Gafkowitz

In January 2007, I had just graduated from high school and was eagerly looking for something constructive to do with my time. On VolunteerMatch one day, I stujessmbled upon Alternatives to Marriage’s page. UE seemed like an incredibly unique and interesting organization; I applied to volunteer almost immediately. Former executive director, Nicky Grist soon after took me under her wing and led me on the path to who I am today both as a young professional and devoted staff for UE. After Nicky left, Cindy Butler took on the reins, leading UE in a new and exciting direction which I am grateful to be a part of.

Over the past six years I have been promoted from volunteer to intern and lastly, staff, and it has been nothing but an amazing and challenging experience. As someone who will undoubtedly remain unmarried her entire adult life,  I fully support and understand the organization’s mission and concerns. I am incredibly honored and privileged to work for Alternatives to Marriage because our organization is made up of intelligent, passionate people who truly care about achieving equality for US – American society’s growing majority of  unmarried people.
