WHAT YOU CAN DO
In New York:
Everywhere else:
This year we're celebrating in New York City with a free, open-to-the-public information session about hospital rights and health care. Join us! We're also celebrating in cyberspace, via our virtual book club. Read Single with Attitude and share your thoughts via email with the author and dozens of like-minded book lovers.Around the country, journalists who cover "USA Week" will be looking for a local angle. Are you ready to tell the world about your single or unmarried experiences? Sign up as an unmarried spokesperson! Not sure? Read more here. The U.S. Census Bureau recognizes "USA Week" each year by publishing new facts about unmarried people in the USA. The Census estimates that 93 million adults in the United States are unmarried and that over half of the nation's households are headed by unmarried people, as are a majority of households in 24 states and over 300 American cities. We've compiled the latest facts about unmarried people from a variety of sources. Read more about past "USA Week" celebrations. More about being an unmarried spokesperson: AtMP maintains a database of unmarried people who are willing to talk about their lives with journalists who are working on articles or news pieces about marriage, cohabitation, and related topics. We think these real life stories are an important part of educating the public about unmarried relationships. We need a diversity of people willing to share their experiences: people who are single and in relationships; those who hope to marry someday and those who never will; people of all ages, races, sexual orientations, and geographical locations. If you would be willing to consider talking to the media about your experience (you can always decide on a case-by-case basis), please email us with your city and state (very important), phone number, and basic information about your situation that we can share with an interested reporter. |
